Overview

This standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association to provide one means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the New Approach Directive 94/25/EC as amended by 2003/44/EC on recreational craft. This standard defines relevant requirements of the aforementioned directive for recreational craft in Annex I, A, clause 3.1 "Structure", that the choice and combination of materials and its construction shall ensure that the craft is strong enough in all respects, each in accordance with the design category and the maximum load indicated by the manufacturer. Committee ISO/TC 188/WG 18 is responsible for this standard; the national mirror committee is Working Group NA 132-08-01-18 AK "ISO/TC 188/WG 18 Dimensionierung des Bootskörpers" ("ISO/TC 188/WG 18 Scantlings").
