DIN EN ISO 11963 specifies the requirements for solid, flat extruded sheets of polycarbonate (PC) for general applications. It applies specifically to sheets made of poly(p,p'-isopropylidene-diphenyl carbonate). The sheets may be coloured or colourless, and they may be transparent, translucent or opaque. The sheets may also have a special weather-protective layer on one or both surfaces. This document applies only to thicknesses equal to or greater than 1,5 mm. This standard differs from DIN EN ISO 11963:1995-11 as follows: a) clause 2 "Normative references" has been modified; b) 4.4.3 "Deviation of shape from rectangular" has been modified; c) in 5.1.1 "Sampling" the normative references have been modified; d) in 5.1.2 "Conditioning and testing of specimens" the tolerances have been changed; e) table 4 "Typical values of other properties of transparent, colourless sheets" has been modified; f) table 5 "Requirements on basic properties" has been modified; g) 5.4 "Mechanical properties" has been modified; h) in 5.5.1 the conditioning time and the temperature have been modified; i) in subclause 5.7.1 "Natural weathering" the normative references have been updated; j) in A.3 the temperature has been changed; k) the standard has been editorially revised. This document has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 61 "Plastics" (secretariat: SAC, China) in collaboration with CEN/TC 249 "Plastics", the secretariat of which is held by NBN (Belgium). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 054-04-02 AA "Halbzeuge aus Thermoplasten" ("Thermoplastic semi-finished products") at the Plastics Standards Committee (FNK) at DIN.
