This standard specifies a T-peel test for the determination of the peel strength of an adhesive by measuring the peeling force of a T-shaped bonded assembly of two flexible adherends. This test procedure does not provide design information. For the T-peel test for a flexible-to-flexible assembly, the force is applied to the unbonded ends of the specimen. The angle between the bond line and the direction of the applied force is not fixed. Adherends are separated at an approximately steady rate from an open edge of a prepared bond so that separation occurs progressively along the bond line. This engineering standard is especially suitable for metal adherends but other, flexible, adherends may also be used. This test standard will supersede DIN EN ISO 11399:2005-08. Information on safety and environment has been added and materials for assemblies have been specified. The calculated peel strength values are now reported in newtons per 100 mm of specimen width. At DIN the Committee responsible for this standard is NA 062-04-55 AA "Prüfung von Konstruktionsklebstoffen, -klebverbindungen und Kernverbunden" ("Testing of structural adhesives, structural adhesive bondings and sandwiches").
