This standard defines relevant requirements of Annex I of the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, for dryers and ovens which were placed on the market in the EEA for the first time, in order to facilitate the verification of the conformity with these requirements. Once it is cited in the Official Journal of the European Communities, it is deemed a harmonized standard, and thus the manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive covered by this standard (so called presumption of conformity). This part of the International Standard ISO 11102 applies to handle starting equipment used on reciprocating internal combustion engines for land, rail and marine use. It does not apply to engines used to propel road vehicles and air craft. This part may also be applied to engines used to propel road construction, earth moving machines and for other application where no suitable international standards exist. In addition to the technical safety requirements, this standard describes procedures for checking adherence to these requirements. With respect to DIN EN ISO 11102-1:1997-11, the following changes have been made: an informative Annex ZB on the relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has been added. This standard contains the German version of EN 11102-1:2009, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 270 "Internal combustion engines" of the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). During the preparation of the standard, the national interests were represented by Working Committee NA 060-10-10 AA "Internal combustion engines" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Manufacturers' representatives and users of engines and systems were involved in the preparation of the standard.
This document replaces DIN EN ISO 11102-1:1997-11 .
