Overview

This standard is based on the work of HL7. It defines a functional model for an electronic health record system. Compared to edition 1, edition 2 offers a better structure, but above all a significant level of detail. Thus, this edition is much better suited for the preparation of detailed requirement descriptions as well as testable conformity and certificate statements than the earlier, but much more generic specification. In future, further structuring as well as formalization on the basis of appropriate tools, that are to become available already for edition 2, may be expected. The committee responsible is NA 063-07-02 AA "Interoperabilität" ("Interoperability") at DIN Standards Committee Medicine (NAMed).
