This document specifies a test method for determining the resistance to thermal shock of all ceramic tiles under normal conditions of use. Depending on the water absorption of the tiles, different procedures (tests with or without immersion) are used unless there is an agreement to the contrary. During the test, the resistance to thermal shock of a whole tile is determined by cycling 10 times between the temperatures of 15 °C and 145 °C. The test standard supersedes DIN EN ISO 10545-9:1996. This standard is directed at tile manufacturers and independent test institutes. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 062-02-73 AA "Prüfung von keramischen Bauteilen für Wand- und Bodenbeläge" ("Testing of ceramic building elements for wall and floor coverings") at DIN.
This document replaces DIN EN ISO 10545-9:1996-09 .
