DIN EN IEC 61058-1:2018-08

This standard applies to appliance switches (mechanical or electronic) operated by hand, foot or similar means for the command or control of electrical appliances and other equipment for household and similar purposes, with a rated voltage not exceeding 480 V and a rated current not exceeding 63 A. Switches for appliances are intended to be operated by - a person via an actuating member, - indirect actuation, - an actuating sensing unit. This part of IEC 61058 is also applicable to switches with additional control or regulating functions that are regulated by the switch and to switches with electronic circuits and devices that may not be connected in series with their load but are necessary for the intended and/or proper operation of the switch. This part of IEC 61058 also applies to circuits when evaluated by a switch and required for the switching function. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 542.2 "Geräteschalter" ("Switches for appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
