This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with these requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Union, the manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (so-called presumption of conformity). This European Standard, used together with EN ISO 4254-1, comprises the safety requirements and their verification for the design and construction of self-propelled, mounted, semi-mounted and trailed manure spreaders, provided with vertical or horizontal axes rotors rear spreader device or with vertical axes disc rear spreader device. In addition, it specifies the type of information on safe working practices to be provided by the manufacturer. This standard contains the German version of EN 690:2013 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 144 "Tractors and machinery used in agriculture and forestry" at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). Compared to DIN EN 690:2009-12, the following modifications have been made: a) inclusion of requirements for a control device which causes automatic disengagement of power transmission in case of self-propelled machinery; b) inclusion of requirements for the cleaning of manure spreaders; c) inclusion of requirements for noise reduction; d) modified requirements for the protection against projectiles; e) modified requirements for the conveyor guarding; f) modified requirements for means of access. The national interests during the preparation were represented by Working Committee NA 060-16-08 AA "Transporttechnik" ("Transportation Technology") at Technical Section Agricultural engineering of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of agricultural machinery, and of employers' liability insurance associations have been involved in the preparation.
This document replaces DIN EN 690:2009-12 .
