This International Standard applies to in-cable control and protection devices connected via a plug to a socket outlet of a fixed installation and used for mode 2 charging of electric road vehicles according to IEC 61851-1 (hereinafter referred to as IC CPD). This standard applies to portable devices performing simultaneously the functions of detection of the residual current, of comparison of the value of this current with the residual operating value and of opening of the protected circuit when the residual current exceeds this value. In addition - the IC CPD contains a pilot function in accordance with IEC61851-1; - the IC CPD has a switched protective earth conductor (PE); - the IC CPD controls the supply conditions and prevents charging in the event of a faulty supply under specified conditions. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 541.3 "Fehlerstrom-Schutzeinrichtungen" ("Residual current devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
