This International Standard specifies the minimum requirements for assessment of the performance of CPV systems, assemblies or power plants, based on the total power (watt-hours) generated by the system under test (equipment under test) within a defined and representative period, usually six months or one year. The technology described in this standard is based on direct power measurement rather than on a calculation of power derived from the measured rated power and a mathematical model. The standard has been drafted to be applicable to all CPV technologies. The duration for power measurement may partially overlap with the outdoor test described in IEC 62108. The purpose of this measured power measurement is to provide accurate predictions of the annual energy output and energy efficiency of CPV systems, assemblies or power plants under real conditions, including typical changes in solar cell operating temperature, solar spectrum, atmospheric conditions, typical optical contamination and mutual shading of individual systems within a power plant. The committee responsible is DKE/K 373 "Photovoltaische Solarenergie-Systeme" ("Photovoltaic solar power systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
