Overview

DIN EN 62359 specifies thermal and non-thermal aspects for parameters which relate to diagnostic ultrasonic fields. For determination of exposure parameters, temperature rise in theoretical tissue-equivalent models is taken as the basis. The mechanism consists of the absorption of ultrasound in the human tissue. Additionally, non-thermal effects shall be taken into account. The responsible committee is Joint Subcommittee GUK 821.3 "Medizinische Ultraschallgeräte" ("Medical ultrasonic devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
