Overview

This standard belongs to a series of standards dealing with heat shrinkable moulded shapes for electrical insulation. The series consists of the following three parts: Part 1: Definitions and general requirements (IEC 62329-1), Part 2: Methods of test (IEC 62329-2), Part 3: Specification requirements for shape dimensions, material requirements and compatibility performance (IEC 62329-3). The present standard is one of the sheets which make up Part 3: - Sheet 102: Heat-shrinkable elastomeric moulded shapes, semi-rigid, material requirements and system performance. See IEC 62329-3-100 for information about dimensions for heat shrinkable moulded shapes. This sheet of DIN EN 62329-3 specifies requirements for material and compatibility of semi-rigid moulded shapes made from heat-shrinkable elastomeric material. Experience regarding performance shows that these moulded shape materials are suitable to be operated in systems with a temperature range of -70 °C to +120 °C. The moulded shapes may be supplied with a pre-coating of adhesive. Special equipment by the manufacturer or supplier is referred to in respects to this. A guideline in respects to the compatibility of the adhesives is provided in Annex A. These moulded shapes are usually supplied in the designs depicted in DIN EN 62329-3-100 and the dimensions stated there. The colour is usually black. Designs and dimensions other than those specified in DIN EN 62329-3-100 can be made available if the client wishes. These designs shall be considered in conformity with this standard if they conform to the property requirements listed in this standard, with the exception of the dimensions. Materials which correspond with this standard fulfill recognized requirement levels. However, the selection of materials by a user for a particular application should be based on the actual requirements for an adequate performance in this application and not be based solely on this standard. The responsible Committee is K 181 "Feste elektrische Isolierstoffe" (AK 181.0.5 "Isolierschläuche" ("Rigid electrical insulating materials") (WG 181.0.5 "Insulating sleeving")) of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
