This standard belongs to a series of standards dealing with heat shrinkable moulded shapes for electrical insulation. The series consists of the following three parts: Part 1: Definitions and general requirements (IEC 62329-1), Part 2: Methods of test (IEC 62329-2), Part 3: Specification requirements for shape dimensions, material requirements and compatibility performance (IEC 62329-3). The present standard is one of the sheets which make up Part 3: Sheet 100: Heat-shrinkable moulded shapes dimensions.
This sheet of standard series IEC 62329-3 specifies the requirements for the dimensions of heat shrinkable moulded shapes. The moulded shapes may be supplied with a pre-coating of adhesive. Special equipment by the manufacturer or supplier is referred to in respects to this. These moulded shapes are usually supplied in the designs depicted in the tables and the dimensions stated there. The colour is usually black. A guideline in respects to the compatibility of the adhesives is provided in the annex. The user is recommended to make use of the manufacturer or supplier guidelines if adhesives are required in order to weld the moulded shapes with cable sheathing and/or connectors or fitting pieces. Designs and dimensions other than those specified in the standard can be made available if the client wishes. These designs shall be considered in conformity with this standard if they conform to the property requirements listed in the sheets, with the exception of the dimensions. Materials which correspond with this standard fulfill recognized requirement levels. However, the selection of materials by a user for a particular application should be based on the actual requirements for a adequate performance in this application and not be based solely on this standard. The responsible Committee is K 181 "Anforderungen an elektrische Isolierstoffe" ("Requirements for electrical insulating materials") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
