Overview

Part 5-1 of the IEC 62282 series describes portable fuel cell power systems, their construction, designation and test requirements. Portable in this context means: not fastened and not fixed to a special place in any other way and not permanently connected to the electrical distribution network or a public fuel supply system. The application is limited to systems with a design voltage of up to 600 VAC or 850 VDC for use inside closed rooms as well as outdoors. Additional protective measures should be realized for use on dangerous locations (IEC 60079-0). Applications for propelling road vehicles and for use onboard of passenger aircraft are also excluded. With regard to fuels and raw materials, a defined selection is considered by way of a normative reference. The responsible committee is DKE/K 384 "Brennstoffzellen" ("Fuel cells") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
