This part of IEC 62271 specifies requirements for prefabricated for insulated enclosed switchgear and controlgear assemblies for alternating current at rated voltages greater than1 kV and up to and including 52 kV for indoor installation and operating frequencies up to and including 60 Hz. The access to the assembly is restricted to authorised personnel only. The enclosures may comprise fixed or removable parts and be filled with a fluid (liquid or gas) in order to ensure additional insulation. The design pressure of assemblies comprising gas-filled compartments is limited to a maximum of 300 kPa (overpressure). Insulated enclosed switchgear and controlgear assemblies complying with this standard are safe to be touched in the switched-on mode. Additional requirements may apply to insulated enclosed switchgear and controlgear assemblies for special purposes such as in flammable atmospheres, in mining or aboard ships. Components installed in insulated enclosed assemblies are designed and tested according to the respective relevant specifications. This standard complements the specifications of the individual components regarding their installation into switchgear and controlgear assemblies. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 62271-201 (VDE 0671-201):2007-07: a) Besides harmonisation with the second edition of IEC 62271-200:2012, definitions, classifications and test methods have been specified in more detail. b) The access to the enclosed switchgear and controlgear assembly is now restricted to authorised personnel only. This means that "accessibility type B" (general public) has been deleted from the entire document. c) The term "protection category" has been introduced to replace the term "protection degree" (PA, PB1 and PB2). The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 432.2 "Typgeprüfte Hochspannungs-Schaltanlagen" ("Type-tested controlgear") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 62271-201:2007-07; VDE 0671-201:2007-07 .
