This International Standard specifies procedures for calibrating an optical spectrum analyzer that is developed for use in fibre-optic communications and designed to measure the power distribution of an optical spectrum. It does not apply to an optical wavelength meter that measures only centre wavelengths, a Fabry-Perot interferometer or a monochromator that has no display unit. The following principal changes have been made in this standard compared to DIN EN 62129:2007-01 and DIN EN 62129 Corrigendum 1:2008-11: a) the terms have been updated; b) the reference calibration conditions have been updated; c) change of the calculation of the uncertainties with regard to the temperature dependence of the wavelength, the power linearity, the temperature dependence of the power level; d) transfer of Annex E to the Bibliography. The procedures described in this standard are mainly performed by users of optical spectrum analyzers. This document is also useful for calibration laboratories and for manufacturers of optical spectrum analyzers. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.2 "Komponenten für Kommunikationskabelanlagen" ("Components for communication cabling systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 62129 Berichtigung 1:2008-11 , DIN EN 62129:2007-01 .
