DIN EN 61800-2:2016-08

This part of DIN EN 61800 specifies general requirements for variable speed AC electrical power drive systems (PDS) that include a power semiconductor inverter and equipment for its control, protection, monitoring and measurement and also an AC motor or several AC motors. It applies to systems connected to mains supply voltages up to 1 kV AC, 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The purpose of this International Standard is to provide a comprehensive list of requirements that can be used as a specification between customer and manufacturer. For some aspects covered in specific PDS product standards within the IEC 61800 series of standards, this standard provides a brief introduction and references detailed requirements in those product standards. This standard is thus a useful specification tool when variable speed electrical drive systems are to be incorporated into an end application or their application is as a component. Relevant applications are: Elevators and hoists, machinery, conveyors, switchgear, heating and ventilation, pumps, wind and tidal power plants. The responsible committee is K 226 "Ausrüstung von Starkstromgeräten und -anlagen mit elektronischen Betriebsmitteln" ("High voltage current equipment and systems with electronic equipment") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
