This International Standard describes the fundamental construction requirements for photovoltaic modules in order to provide safe electrical and mechanical operation during their expected lifetime. It deals with specific topics in accordance with which protection against electrical shock, fire hazards, and personal injury due to mechanical and environmental stresses can be evaluated. This part of EN 61730 deals with particular requirements of construction. The test requirements are described in EN 61730-2. This amendment to IEC 61730-1 concerns some editorial corrections, missing references and other omissions which occurred in the first edition of this standard. This amendment contains clarifications and special information on the following areas: - deletion of the annual details for the cited documents; - supplementation of IEC standards on places where no references were previously given; - clarifications of the terminology and other terms; - deletion of the reference to the blank detail specification. The responsible committee is K 373 "Photovoltaische Solarenergie-Systeme" ("Solar photovoltaic energy systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
