This Part 8 of the IEC 61557 series of international standards specifies requirements for insulation monitoring devices (IMD) that permanently monitor the insulation resistance to earth of unearthed IT AC systems (French: Isolé Terre), of IT AC systems with galvanically connected DC circuits with rated voltages up to AC 1 000 V and of unearthed IT DC systems up to DC 1 500 V, irrespective of the measurement method used. IT systems, among other things, are described in IEC 60364-4-41. Where standards specify additional information for the selection of equipment, they should also be observed. The use of insulation monitoring devices in IT systems is specified in various standards. The devices have the task of reporting when the insulation resistance falls below a minimum value. Insulation monitoring devices according to IEC 61557-8 can also be used for switched-off electrical TT, TN and IT systems or for devices. This Corrigendum 1 to IEC 61557-8 Edition 3.0, 2014-12, mainly concerns the French text. In addition, to avoid misunderstandings, some requirements and terms have been more clearly defined and information on individual limit values has been corrected. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 964.1 "Messgeräte zum Prüfen von Schutzmaßnahmen" ("Equipment for testing of protective measures") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
