This standard gives specific requirements for public electricity network distribution assemblies, short designation "PENDAs", which are stationary assemblies as defined in this standard. These assemblies are used for the distribution of electrical energy in three-phase systems. Only assemblies with enclosure are considered; open type assemblies are not covered by this standard. The standard is part of the new series DIN EN 61439 (VDE 0660-600) for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies. It replaces the previously valid standard DIN EN 60439-5 (VDE 0660-503) "Particular requirements for assemblies for power distribution in public networks". The significant modifications concern - alignment with DIN EN 61439-1 (VDE 0660-600-1) regarding the structure and technical content, as applicable; - alignment of new verifications on DIN EN 61439-1 (VDE 0660-600-1), accordingly; - harmonization of the requirements of substation cable distribution boards and cable distribution cable cabinets, thereby eliminating the need to identify and define two categories of assembly; - simpler standard as a result of a reduction in the number of assembly types defined and the acronyms used to identify the different assemblies. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 431.1 "Niederspannungs-Schaltgerätekombinationen" ("Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
