This part of DIN EN 61347 specifies general and safety requirements for lamp controlgear for use on d.c. supplies up to 250 V and/or a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. This standard also covers lamp controlgear for lamps which are not yet standardized. Amendment 2 to IEC 61347:2008 which has been adopted into this edition DIN EN 61347-1 (VDE 0712-30) concerns the following: - terms and associated definitions regarding functional earthing, ELV (extra-low voltage), SELV (safety extra low voltage), body, impulse withstand category, class I lamp controlgear, class II lamp controlgear, class III lamp controlgear, protective impedance device, maximum working voltage, basic insulation, double insulation and reinforced insulation; - clause 4, General requirements, clause 7, Marking, as well as clauses 9 to 15, Protective earthing, Protection against accidental contact with live parts, Electric strength, Thermal endurance test for windings of ballasts, Construction, and clause 20, No-load output voltage; - Annex A for establishment whether a conductive part is a live part which may cause an electric shock has been completely revised. The following annexes have been supplemented: - Annex L, Particular additional requirements for controlgears providing SELV; - Annex M, Dielectric strength test voltages for controlgear intended for the use in impulse withstand Category III; - Annex N, Requirements for insulation materials used for double or reinforced insulation; - Annex O, Additional requirements for built-in electronic controlgear with double or reinforced insulation. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 521.3 "Geräte für Lampen" ("Auxiliaries for lamps") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
