Semi-rigid coaxial communication cables with solid dielectric and a dielectric of a combination of plastic and air are commonly used in microwave or wireless equipment or other devices for signal transmission at frequencies above 500 MHz. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.3 "Koaxialkabel - und leitungen" ("Coaxial cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 61196-2:2004-07 .
