Overview

In addition to the parts regarding GPS (Global Positioning System) and GLONASS (Globalnaja Nawigazionnaja Sputnikowaja Sistema), this part 3 of the International Standard on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) specifies the minimum requirements and test methods for reliability and accuracy of Galileo receiver equipment for position determination in maritime shipping. By evaluating the signals of the global Galileo satellite navigation system, Galileo receiver equipment displays offshore the position of a vessel at harbour entrances and in coastal waters with certain accuracy. The responsible Committee is K 738 "Elektronische Navigationsinstrumente" ("Electronic navigation equipment") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
