Overview

This standard applies to appliance switches (mechanical or electronic) operated by hand, foot or similar means for the command or control of electrical appliances and other equipment for household and similar purposes, with a rated voltage not exceeding 480 V and a rated current not exceeding 63 A. This Part 1-2 applies to electronic switches and shall be used in conjunction with the general requirements of IEC 61058-1 and, where applicable, the specific functional requirements of the relevant Part 2 of the IEC 61058 series of standards. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 542.2 "Geräteschalter" ("Switches for appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
