This standard contains the German version of the second edition of the European standard EN 61000-4-9 and is identical to the second edition of the International Standard IEC 61000-4-9. It describes the testing of the immunity of electrical and electronic devices (equipment) to pulsed magnetic fields as they may occur in industrial plants, power plants, medium and high voltage switchgear and in the railroad environment. In addition to the necessary definitions, the recommended test levels, the test equipment, the test setup and the test procedure are specified, as well as stipulations for the test report and the evaluation of the test results. The pulsed magnetic fields used for testing are generated by induction coils, the properties of which are specified in the standard. These coils are powered by a combination pulse or hybrid generator that corresponds to the pulse generator specified in IEC 61000-4-5, although only the 8/20 microsecond current pulse is used. Compared to the existing edition of the standard, it is intended to transfer the specifications for the calibration of the induction coil contained in Annex A to the main part. Furthermore, it is intended to add specifications for large test specimens that do not fit into the standardized induction coils. It is also planned to add new appendices B, D, E, F and G. These annexes contain information - on the field distribution of standardized induction coils; - on measurement uncertainty; - on the mathematical modelling of impulse shapes of the surge current (taken from IEC 61000-4-5); - on the use of two induction coils; - on the numerical simulation of the induction coil field. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 767.3 "Hochfrequente Störgrößen" ("High frequency disturbances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 61000-4-9:2001-12; VDE 0847-4-9:2001-12 .
