Overview

This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN 61000-4-4:2012 and is identical to the 3rd edition of the International Standard IEC 61000-4-4. It is part of the EMC basic standards which are usually cited in the EMC generic and product standards specifying immunity requirements. It serves for the description of immunity testing of electrical and electronic equipment to electrical fast transients/bursts. For this purpose, specifications for the test equipment (test generator, coupling/decoupling network, capacitive coupling clamp) including calibration, for the test setup, test procedure, evaluation of test results and test report) are made. Additionally the draft defines recommended ranges of test levels for immunity testing of electrical and electronic equipment to electrical fast transients/bursts. With regard to the previous standard, 7.2.2 has been supplemented with specifications for validation of the test equipment. Furthermore, the new edition of the standard contains a series of other individual modifications listed in the national foreword. The simplified circuit diagram of the burst generator contained in Figure 1 has been changed as well as a note to the circuit diagram has been added, amongst others. The modifications serve for clarification and improvement of the specifications for the burst simulator as well as the test conditions and criteria. The annexes give information on fast electrical transients/bursts as well as the selection of the test levels. A new Annex C containing information on the electrical fast transients has been prepared. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/ UK 767.3 "Hochfrequente Störgrößen" ("High frequency disturbances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
