This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN 61000-4-16:2016 and is identical with the first edition of International Standard IEC 61000-4-16 (edition 2015-12). It specifies the test and a range of preferred test levels for immunity of electric and electronic equipment to conducted asymmetrical and common-mode disturbances, respectively, in the range 0 Hz to 150 kHz. Information about the cause and the sources of such disturbances and coupling mechanisms by means of which the disturbances can be transferred to equipment are given in the standard in a clause with the heading "General" and in Annex A. For the purpose of the immunity testing of electric and electronic equipment and devices, the standard specifies a range of preferred test levels which apply, on the one hand, for endurance and short-term tests with direct voltages and with alternating voltages with power supply frequencies 0 Hz, 16 2/3 Hz, 50 kHz and 60 Hz and, on the other hand, for tests with alternating voltages in the frequency range 15 Hz to 150 kHz. Furthermore, it describes the required test set-up and test procedures and contains general specifications for the test report and evaluation of test results. This standard differs from the previous edition in that a reference to IEC 61000-4-19 has been included, the term "source impedance of the generator" has been defined and used instead of the more general term "impedance" in the generator characteristics. Furthermore, Figures 3 and 4 have been replaced by new figures. The German version of the IEC 61000-4-19 mentioned has been published as DIN EN 61000-4-19 (VDE 0847-4-19). The responsible committee is DKE/UK 767.1 "Niederfrequente leitungsgeführte Störgrößen" ("Low-frequency conducted disturbance variables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 61000-4-16:2011-09; VDE 0847-4-16:2011-09 .
