DIN EN 60958-3:2016-02

This part of IEC 60958 specifies the interface for the interconnection of digital audio equipment according to IEC 60958-1 for the application in consumer electronics (consumer applications). The revision of IEC 60958:2006 had become necessary in order to transmit audio signals and the information contained therein of the current improved audio formats and systems. For the use of IEC 60958-3 and the IEC 60958-compliant data format for the transmission of part or all of the multi-channel audio data, the general channel allocation number, which is specified in IEC 62574, is added to the C-bit. To control the volume, the volume information is added to the U-bit. The responsible committee is K 742 "Audio-, Video- und Multimediasysteme, -geräte und -komponenten" ("Audio, video and multimedia systems, equipment and components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
