This International Standard is a detail specification for multi-fibre optical distribution cables for use in premises cabling and presents the detailed requirements specific to this type of cable to ensure compatibility with ISO/IEC 11801, "Information technology - Generic cabling for customer premises". Furthermore, the requirements of the Family Specification IEC 60794-2-20:2008 are applicable to all cables covered by this standard. Particular requirements detailed in clause 4 either define a specific option relative to the requirements of IEC 60794-2-10:2011 or allow for a selection from these in individual cases. The tables in the subclause on the transmission requirements are minimum and maximum values for the transmission parameters in relation to the fibre categories and also indicate the respective linked codes regarding the performance in accordance with ISO/IEC 11801. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 412.6 "Lichtwellenleiter und Lichtwellenleiterkabel" ("Fibres and cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
