This standard applies to grinders, polishers and disk-type sanders, including angle, straight and vertical tools, with a rated capacity not exceeding 230 mm. For grinders the rated speed does not exceed a peripheral speed of the accessory of 80 m/s at rated capacity. Compared with DIN EN 60745-2-3 (VDE 0740-2-3):2012-02, the following changes have been made: a) random-orbit polishers do not longer fall within the scope because they are covered in the new Part 2-23; b) further amendments relate to vertical grinders and different adjustments to ensure the correct flanges and protective covers for different tool bits. The responsible committee is DKE/K 514 "Elektrowerkzeuge" ("Electric tools") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
