The standards of the IEC 60728 series deal with cable networks including equipment and associated methods of measurement for headend reception, processing and distribution of television and sound signals and their corresponding data signals and for processing, interfacing and transmitting all kinds of data signals for interactive services using all applicable transmission media. The reception of television signals inside a building requires an outdoor antenna and a distribution network to convey the signal to the TV receivers. This part of the IEC 60728 series deals with the requirements which have to be met at the system outlet or at the terminal input when the CATV/MATV/SMATV network is in real operation. This standard specifies rules for calculating the operational characteristics at the system outlet. For this purpose, the performance requirements of the CATV/MATV/SMATV cable networks, home networks and the received signals in accordance with IEC 60728-1 and IEC 60728-1-1 are taken into account. For the new edition, the performance requirements of Clause 7 have been revised to incorporate DVB-T2 signals. These requirements have been prepared by "Technical Area 5: Cable networks for television signals, sound signals and interactive services" of "IEC Technical Committee 100: Audio, video and multimedia systems and equipment". The responsible committee is DKE/K 735 "Kabelnetze und Antennen für Fernsehsignale, Tonsignale und interaktive Dienste" ("Cable networks for television signals, sound signals and interactive services") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
