The standards of the EN 60728 series deal with cable networks including equipment and associated methods of measurement for headend reception, processing and distribution of television signals, sound signals, interactive services, interfaces and their associated data signals, using all applicable transmission media. This standard specifies requirements for bidirectional RF cable networks in homes and describes implementation guidelines. It applies to any home network that distributes signals provided by CATV/MATV/SMATV cable networks (including individual receiving systems) having a coaxial cable output. It is also applicable to home networks where some part of the distribution network uses wireless links, for example in place of the receiver cord. The responsible Committee is K 735 "Kabelnetze und Antennen für Fernsehsignale, Tonsignale und interaktive Dienste" ("Cable networks for television signals, sound signals and interactive services") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
