DIN EN 60704-2-1:2015-07

The series of standards DIN EN 60704 applies to electrical appliances (including their accessories or their component parts) for domestic use and similar use for mains or battery operation. Similar use means use under similar conditions as in the household, for example in restaurants, coffee houses, tea rooms, hotels, hairdressing salons, Laundromats, etcetera, unless otherwise specified in Part 2. The standard DIN EN 60704-2-1 contains the special requirements for vacuum cleaners (including their accessories and components) for domestic use and similar purposes. This standard applies to electric vacuum cleaners in dry operating conditions. Some additions or modifications for vacuum cleaners for operation under wet conditions are in consultation. This standard does not apply to industrial or commercial vacuum cleaners. Compared to DIN EN 60704-2-1:2001-12, a method for measuring the airborne noise emission of vacuum cleaners operated on hard floors has been included. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 513.7 "Bodenbehandlungsgeräte" ("Floor treatment appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
