Overview

Part -6-2 of the series IEC 60695 presents a brief summary of static and dynamic test methods in common use, used in the assessment of smoke obscuration. It includes special observations on their relevance to electro-technical products and their materials and to fire scenarios, and it gives recommendations on their use. The given test methods exist as international, national or industrial standards. This basic safety standard is directed at technical committees preparing standards in accordance with the principles laid down in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51, whereby the requirements, test methods and test conditions of a basic safety standard, as appropriate, shall be referred to in the corresponding specific standards and as a result shall be used in this context. The responsible body is DKE/K 133 "Prüfverfahren zur Beurteilung der Brandgefahr von elektrotechnischen Produkten und Isolierstoffen" ("Test methods for assessment of fire hazard of electro-technical products and insolating materials") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
