This International Standard is part of a standard series dealing with insulating sleeving for electrical purposes. The series consists of three parts: - Part 1: Definitions and general requirements (IEC 60684-1); - Part 2: Methods of test (IEC 60684-2); - Part 3: Specifications for individual types of sleeving (IEC 60684-3). This part contains one of the sheets which form part 3 of this series: Sheet 209: Heat-shrinkable polyolefin sleeving, general purpose, flame retarded. This part of DIN EN 60684 contains requirements for two types of heat shrinkable, flame retarded polyolefin sleeving for general purposes. This sleeving is suitable for use at temperatures of up to 125 °C. - Type A - highly flame retardant - Type B - flame retardant The smallest available inner diameters and the largest inner diameters in the shrunken state shall be specified by the manufacturers so that they meet the given minimum wall thicknesses. These types of sleevings are usually supplied with inner diameters of up to 75 mm and in the following colours: black, brown, white, red, yellow, green, blue, orange, purple, grey and green-yellow. Materials which conform to this standard meet established levels of performance. However, the selection of a material by a user for a specific application should be based on the actual requirements necessary for adequate performance in that application and not based on this standard alone. The responsible Committee is K 181 "Feste elektrische Isolierstoffe" (AK 181.0.5 "Isolierschläuche") ("Solid electrical insulating materials" (WG 181.0.5 "Insulating sleeving")) of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 60684-3-209:2004-01; VDE 0341-3-209:2004-01 .
