DIN EN 60674-2:2017-11

This standard is part of the international series of standards IEC 60674 dealing with plastic films for electrical purposes. The series consists of the following three parts: Part 1: Definitions and general requirements (IEC 60674-1); Part 2: Methods of test; Part 3: Specifications for individual materials (IEC 60674-3). This standard applies to plastic films for electrical purposes. This Part 2 of the standard describes the test procedures to be carried out to verify the required electrical and mechanical properties of plastic films intended for use in electrical equipment and installations. Two test methods are described. The first method is suitable for narrow films with a width of less than 150 mm, in which the overstretching mainly manifests itself as a diagonal cut. However, it is also suitable for determining the sag of very thick films if the tension required for stretching them according to the second method is too great. The second method is designed for use on films with a width of more than 150 mm, where the overstretching mainly manifests itself as sagging. The responsible committee is DKE/K 181 "Feste elektrische Isolierstoffe" ("Solid electrical insulating materials") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
