This part of DIN EN 60669 (VDE 0632) is applicable to fireman's switches used for the breaking of the low-voltage circuits for exterior and interior signs and luminaires, for instance neon signs for a.c. only with a rated voltage not exceeding 440 V and a rated current not exceeding 125 A. The working voltage for signs and lighting installations incorporating glow discharge tubes is between 1 kV and 10 kV and should correspond with the standards of the DIN EN 50107 (VDE 0128) series. Fireman's switches corresponding with this standard can be used in a temperature range between -25 °C to +70 °C. The fireman's switches are designed for overvoltage class III and are used in areas with pollution degree 2 in accordance with DIN EN 60664-1 (VDE 0110-1). The responsible committee is DKE/UK 542.1 "Schalter und Steckvorrichtungen für den Hausgebrauch und ähnliche Zwecke" ("Switches and plug/socket connections for household and similar use") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 50425:2008-09; VDE 0632-425:2008-09 .
