This International Standard is part of a series of standards which deals with test methods for combined flexible materials consisting of two or more different insulating materials laminated together which are described in IEC 60626-1. The components of combined flexible materials are polymer film and fibrous sheet material. The standard does not include materials based on mica paper as the main component, which are described in IEC 60371, mica paper can, however, used as complementary material. The standard consists of the following three parts: Part 1: Definitions and general requirements (IEC 60626-1) - Part 2: Methods of test (IEC 60626-2) - Part 3: Specifications for individual materials (IEC 60626-3) It is the responsibility of the user of the methods contained or referred to in this document to ensure that they are used in a safe manner. This International Standard specifies the test methods for combined flexible materials for electrical insulation. Some properties and relevant test methods, according the performance requirements of IEC 60626-3 were confirmed. Other test methods are described as a supplement of guidance for further specification that could be agreed between customer and supplier to meet specified needs of the end use. The edge tearing and stiffness tests have been deleted as they are not used by the market. Materials which conform to this specification meet established levels of performance. However, the selection of material by a user for a specific application should be based on the actual requirements necessary for adequate performance in that application and not based on this specification alone. At DIN and VDE the responsible Committee is K 181 "Feste elektrische Isolierstoffe" (AK 181.0.9 "Zellulose- und flexible Mehrschichtisolierstoffe") ("Solid electrical insulating materials") (WG 181.0.9 "Cellulose insulation and combined flexible materials") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies).
This document replaces DIN EN 60626-2:1997-07; VDE 0316-2:1997-07 .
