This standard applies to X ray tube assemblies intended for use in medical diagnosis. It provides the description of performance and safety-related characteristics of X-ray tube assemblies and is therefore relevant for the manufacturers, operators and safety analyses. The standard contains definitions and conditions of electrical and loading characteristics of X-ray tube assemblies in relation to their behaviour during and after energization and, where appropriate, methods of presentation and measurement of these characteristics. Technical progress in the development of X-ray tube assemblies lead to improvements, especially with regard to thermal operation of X-ray tube assemblies so that the application of the standard DIN EN 60613:1992-09 has become insufficient. Wherever possible, characteristics which require special laboratory conditions for testing have been replaced by definitions which are verifiable by the end user. Furthermore, characteristics which represent the clinically relevant conditions have been added. The International Standard has been prepared by IEC/SC 62B "Diagnostic imaging equipment", with the German collaboration of Joint Committee NA 080-00-16 GA "Bildgebende Systeme" ("Imaging systems") of the DKE and NAR.
This document replaces DIN EN 60613:1992-09 .
