Overview

This standard specifies requirements for luminaires for emergency lighting with electrical light sources operated on emergency power supplies up to 1 000 V. Requirements for portable single-battery emergency luminaires are set out in a new Annex E. Devices according to this standard use control gear that meets the corresponding requirements of the DIN EN 61347 series of standards. If automatic test equipment is used to ensure trouble-free operation of safety lighting, then DIN EN 62034 applies. The committee responsible for the standard is Subcommittee DKE/UK 521.4 "Leuchten" ("Luminaires") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
