Overview

This standard specifies requirements for household aquarium luminaires incorporating electric light sources on supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V. Compared to the previous standard, the following modifications have been made: a) The scope has been extended to all electrical light sources. b) The term for a non-permanently attached luminaire has been clarified. c) The limit value of a working voltage of 30 V of ripple free direct current for class III aquarium luminaires has been added. d) The requirements for the necessary protection against the immersion of water of permanently attached aquarium luminaires have been revised. e) The nominal cross-section of power cables other than usual aquarium luminaires has been specified as minimum 0,75 mm2. The responsible body is DKE/UK 521.4 "Leuchten" ("Luminaires") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
