DIN EN 60598-1 Ber 1 (VDE 0711-1 Ber 1) concerns Part 1 of DIN EN 60598, which specifies the general requirements for luminaires containing electrical light sources for operation on supply voltages up to and including 1 000 V. The requirements and associated tests of this standard apply to: classification, marking, mechanical and electrical construction and for photobiological safety. The correction concerns individual clauses of DIN EN 60598-1, where the correct specifications from IEC were inadvertently not adopted. The main correction concerns: 4.14.1, the duration of the load exposure of 1 h was not specified; 4.31.2, here reference was inadvertently made to IEC 60558, IEC 61558 is correct; 5.2.2, the term "unsheathed basic isolated conductors" was translated incorrectly, "unsheathed basic insulated conductors" is correct; Table 10.3, third line, the specification there was incorrectly referred to luminaires of protection class II, protection class I is correct; A.2, the specification of which DC voltage shall not be exceeded was incorrect. The limit for the ripple-free DC voltage is 60 V. The committee responsible for the standard is DKE/UK 521.4 "Leuchten" ("Luminaires") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
