This standard deals with the safety of electric commercial dispensing appliances and vending machines for preparation and/or delivery of food, drinks and consumer products. Their rated voltage is not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. It also applies to gas-heated, electrically operated espresso coffee machines for commercial purposes. Examples for appliances which are within the scope of this standard are the following: high-volume tea and coffee machines, cigarette machines, liquid heating apparatuses for commercial purposes, espresso coffee machines, hot and cold drinks machines, hot water dispensers, ice-cream and whipped cream dispensers, ice dispensers, newspaper vending machines or t-disc machines, food and beverages vending machines, vending machines including refrigeration systems, coffee mills/grinders. This standard also deals with the hygiene aspects of these appliances. Through incorporation of Amendment A12:2010 into the European Standard EN 6035-2-75:2004 subclause 24.7 has been added. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 511.11 "Motorische Geräte" ("Motor-operated appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) of DIN and VDE.
