This standard applies for the safety of electric washing machines for household and similar use, that are intended for washing clothes and textiles, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase washing machines and 480 V for other appliances. Washing machines which are also supplied with another type of energy are within the scope of this standard. This standard contains the text of CENELEC Amendment A11:2010-05 to EN 60335-2-7:2003. Additional requirements and testing for determining the category "persons requiring protection" and children, and temperature limits for touchable hot surfaces are added. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 511.11 "Motorische Geräte" ("Motor-operated appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) of DIN and VDE.
