This standard deals with the safety of portable electric heating tools and similar appliances, their rated voltage not exceeding 250 V. Induction soldering irons are incorporated in the scope of this standard. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 511.10 "Kleingeräte" ("Small appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
