By Amendment A2:2012 incorporated by the European Standard EN 60335-2-44:2002, additional requirements and tests regarding functional safety of appliances are supplemented in clause 22 "Construction". This standard deals with the safety of electric ironers for household and similar use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. Examples for appliances falling into the scope of this standard are rotary ironers and ironing presses for one-person operation, mangles and trouser presses. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 511.1 "Wäschepflegegeräte und Geschirrspüler" ("Laundry machines and dishwashers") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 60335-2-44:2009-02; VDE 0700-44:2009-02 .
