This standard applies for the safety of electric pumps for liquids having a temperature not exceeding 90 °C. The appliances are intended for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage is not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. Appliances which are within the scope of this standard are, for example: aquarium pumps; pumps for garden ponds, shower pressure booster pumps, sludge pumps, submersible pumps, table top fountains and vertical pumps for wet installation. Appliances which are not intended for normal household use but which can still present a source of danger for the general public, such as appliances which are used by laymen in shops, commercial enterprises and in agriculture, are within the scope of this standard. By incorporating Amendment A2:2010-02 into the European Standard EN 60335-2-41:2003, the "Introduction", the clauses 1 "Scope", 25 "Marking and instructions", 30 "Heat and fire resistance" and the "Bibliography" have been supplemented or changed. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 511.11 "Motorische Geräte" ("Motor-operated appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) of DIN and VDE.
