This International Standard deals with the safety of electric instantaneous water heaters for household and similar purposes and intended for heating water below boiling temperature, the rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single phase and 480 V for other appliances. With this modification, the extended user group is specified. Due to the revision of some design requirements, instantaneous water heaters which can supply several tapping points are also taken into account now. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 511.3 "Ortsfeste Wassererwärmer" ("Fixed water heaters") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
