Overview

This standard deals with the safety of electrical appliances incorporating emitters for exposing the skin to ultraviolet or infrared radiation, for household and similar use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. This standard specifies the measurement setup for measuring infrared radiation and an irradiation plan is introduced. The responsible body is DKE/K 511 "Sicherheit elektrischer Haushaltsgeräte" ("Safety of electric appliances for household purposes") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
