This standard applies to plugs and socket-outlets, cable couplers and appliance couplers with a rated operating voltage not exceeding 1 000 V, 500 Hz and a rated current not exceeding 125 A, primarily intended for industrial use, either indoors or outdoors. This standard applies to plugs and socket-outlets, cable couplers and appliance couplers, with pins and contact tubes of standardized configurations. Products of series II are not allowed and not suitable for use in Europe: References and requirements for products of series II are included in this standard for information purposes only and shall be ignored. With respect to DIN EN 60309-2 (VDE 0623-2):2007-11, the scope has been extended to include 1 kV. Table 104 for position of the protective earthing contact has been modified. In 16.101, the pin contact requirements have been re-described. The sheets 2-1 (continued version 1), 2-II, 2-IIIa, 2-III (continued version 1) and 2-IVa have also been modified.
